Bogota is the capital city – and therefore the most important city, of Colombia. It is nestled in a savannah on the Cundiboyacense plateau so high in the Eastern Andes mountain range, that it is the world’s third-highest capital.

Most of its territory is actually rural, covered by the largest paramo in the world – Sumapaz. But the whole area is made up of 20 districts, 19 of which are in the urban area. The Bogota-Cundinamarca Metropolitan region, formed but the city and the surrounding towns, reaches a population of over 10 million people.

As a capital district, Bogota is the country’s political, administrative, economical, industrial, educational, and cultural epicenter. Along with Medellin and Cali, Bogota forms the Golden Triangle, the most developed region in Colombia and recipient of the largest inversions. The Bogota International Center for Business and Exhibitions –Corferias- is the main venue for exhibitions in Bogota and one of the most remarkable fair organizers and venues in Latin America. It is a private organization committed to the promotion of industrial, cultural, and commercial development in the Andean region, Central America, and the Caribbean since 1954.

Corferias is a founding member of the Latin American Exhibitions Association (AFIDA), a member of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), and the main Latin American partner of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI).

It not only holds fairs and exhibitions but conventions and events of all kinds. Among the most renowned are the International Book Fair, Vitrina Turística ANATO (Colombia tourism fair), Comic-Con Colombia, and Expoartesanías.

The main venue, a large area with 23 exhibition halls interconnected by pedestrian paths, an auditorium, food court and parking lot, and an adjacent Hilton hotel. ÁGORA BOGOTÁ

5.1 Historic Center tour

Depending on your interests, you could get to know a specific feature of Bogota. You can visit the main landmarks of the city center – La Candelaria, whether on foot or by bike. There are great free walking and bike tours.

If your work team is into history, there is a network of museums in La Candelaria with free or very cheap entries. Among the most important are the Gold Museum, the Botero Museum, and the National Museum.

5.2 Monserrate
